Soul Searching

Left my soul on a bus yesterday afternoon

I thought I'd like to get it back some time soon

Its gonna be hard to get around without it

For a while

I phoned the bus company man

To see if somebody handed it in

Then he asked me what it looked like

What state it was in

I scratched my head and tried to remember

But no matter how hard I tried

Nothing came to my mind

I'd forgotten what my soul looked like

It hit me like a bat

I'd left G-d as my guide

I roamed around all night

Me, my body and my mind

With no soul inside I was barely alive

It's just a question of how long I could survive

I tried to remember of days gone by

When I knew right from wrong

And Hashem was my guide

But it all slipped away

With my possessions and my tyvas

To my home I came

Filled with thoughts of shame

I'd forgotten from where my soul came

There was one thing left to do

I prayed all night long

This morning I phoned the bus company man again

He said, "Your not going to believe

What I've got in my hand.

Somebody walked inside the door and said

They found somebody's soul

He told me, he was walking

Down Jerusalem lane, when he

Heard the sound of a soul

Crying out your name

'He left me lying on a bus. Take me home' "

I walked into the lost and found

Saw my soul on the ground

Then I made myself an eternal vow

I need to return,

Before I lose my soul for good.
