One More Mitzvah

Now doing a mitzvah's a beautiful thing

Of that you can be sure

My Rebbe said it would lift me

Get me closer to the Lord

So when I asked him I said "hit me tell me

How many do I need?"

He said "There's not too much, 'bout 613

So I started with tefillin and tzitzit all day

At first I was afraid about changing my ways

Oh but whats a change of habit, I'm not of stone

Now I'm doing it blind folded no problem's at all

Then I stopped eating all those foods

That we are not allowed

I'm a kosher boy now, oh Lord you must be proud

But when I heard how you're not allowed to eat sometimes

I thought one fast is alright, but Lord don't give me nine

Then I looked up to the stars and cried

Chorus:

Don't give me one more mitzvah I declare

I wanna serve You in Your way,

But don't put me in despair

Oh Lord you know that I love You

And I'd never say goodbye

Just don't give me one mitzah or I'm gonna cry

Now I love to rest and eat three meals

On your Sabbath day

And I'll even matza for eight days straight

And I'm saying those extra prayers

And I'm buying those extra books

And I'll make a Sukkah, no matter how bad it looks

Before Shavuot you gotta count for

49 days straight

Well I was going really well

Up until about day eight

On the night before I tried to stay up

All night long

I studied and I learned but

I died by one

Then I looked up to the stars and cried

Chorus

I try to find a little time

To study everyday

I'm learning so much 'bout how to

Serve You in Your ways

I'm doing so much more than I've

Ever done before

So why does every higher step I take

Feel like four

One night under a starry sky

I went out to greet the moon

I looked and shouted out

"Moshiachs coming soon!"

I went back and I prayed like I

Never prayed before

It wasn't one more mitzvah that I wanted

I felt like doing four

Then I looked up to the stars and cried

Just give me one more mitzvah I declare

I wanna serve You in Your way

I'm no longer in despair

Oh Lord You know that I love You

And I'll never say goodbye

Just keep giving me those mitzahs

Till moshiach arrives
